Article From News From Bangladesh archives BRRI arsenic laboratory inauguratedA modern arsenic laboratory was inaugurated at Soil Science Division of the Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI) on Wednesday in Gazipur, says a pres release. Dr S B Siddique, Director General of BRRI, inaugurated the laboratory as the chief guest. The laboratory has been established at BRRI with the financial support from the PETRRA Project of the Department for International Development (DFID), UK. Dr M A Majid Miah, Head, Soil Science Division, BRRI and one of the Principal Investigators (PI) of the Arsenic Project presided over the inaugural meeting. Dr N I Bhuiyan, Director (Research), BRRI and Dr Bhajan Biswas, Associate Researcher, Texas University, USA spoke on the occasion. The speakers emphasised the importance of the arsenic laboratory which will help build national capacity to address arsenic contamination issues of the country. (The Independent)
